Bean bag chairs and sofas are well-known types of furniture. These items were incredibly popular during the latter half of the 1960s and the early years of the 1970s. Bean bags become popular again during the middle of the 1990s and have continued to be high-selling furniture pieces since then. In manufacturing bean bags, a fabric or covering is filled with small beads or pellets. Originally, these were made of PVC or small bits of styrofoam. Other materials then began to be used such as shredded polyurethane foam, which offers greater comfort according to users. Bean bags can also be filled with polystyrene beads. These beads usually come in a sugary-looking form which then expand when steam is blown into it. The industry calls it expanded polystyrene or EPS. The diameters of the beads can vary. It can measure approximately three to nine millimetres. However, manufacturers also use micro beads which are about one to three millimetres in diameter.
